Originally aired on MTV as a 30-minute special, Making the Tour is best watched before the *NSYNC Live from Madison Square Garden DVD. With this disc the *NSYNC guys show us what goes into the making of their $1 million “No Strings Attached World Tour”

Beginning two months before the first night of the tour, Justin, Joey, Lance, Chris and JC show us all the cool behind the scenes secrets and tricks of the trade that go into the making of this spectacular tour. In this 80- minute feature you’ll see imagination turn into reality as they work their way through the hectic schedule of intense choreography, designing the lighting and special effects, building the monstrous stage, and all the rehearsals that went into making this one of the best 'pop' tours you’ll see in a long time.

This DVD lets us see the individual personalities of the boys and how the pressure of dancing, singing and trying to find a breath affects them all. We also meet the musical director, the tour manager, the lighting technicians, the stage manager and some of the choreographers, including Wade J. Robson who co-wrote *NSYNC’s latest single POP along with Justin Timberlake.

From *NSYNC sitting in their managers house in Orlando, Florida, working out the set playlist for the show, creating a moving stage (to see the crowd better), making a spectacular laser light show, showing us what goes into those fascinating dance routines, and blowing things up, we get see it all. Joey shows us the ins and outs of the manager's house (which has a private volleyball court and golf course). Lance gives us a quick tour of the huge stage, Justin reflects on the realities of being a popstar at 14 (which was his age when the band recorded their first album), JC tells us that although it might look all pretty and glamorous, it's not all as it seems, and Chris reassures us that if he wasn’t a member of the band he could still make it as a stand-up comedian.

The video quality of this disc is superb, there are basically no film or MPEG artefacts, and shadow detail is that which should be expected for live concerts. Aliasing is a no-go even though the footage is sharp and clean. Colours are vibrant and the interviews, concerts, and film clips are all presented fantastically.

However, what is even more impressive is the audio transfer. Basically all footage on this is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1. The surrounds get a great work out in both the concert and the film clips, with snippets of sound flying all around the room. The subwoofer is also put to great use and really adds that needed ‘oomph’ to the soundtrack. The dialogue is always clear and there are no distracting faults with the audio, making this a very entertaining disc to listen to.

Included as a bonus are live versions of This I Promise You and the #1 selling single Bye Bye Bye, taken from the Madison Square Garden concert. Other special features include weblinks and three music videos - Bye Bye Bye, It’s Gonna Be Me and This I Promise You.

This is a must for all *NSYNC fans and considering that *NSYNC Making The Tour is only available on DVD and not yet on video it’s a great buy for all of us lucky enough to have a DVD player. The transfer is fantastic with the audio thumping its way around all six channels, giving *NSYNC fans no reason not to pick up this disc right away.
