Mr Dingle The Strong (Episode 55)
A weak, timid vacuum salesman is the unwitting guinea pig for an experiment by visiting aliens. Given super strength, he promptly goes about showing it off, much to the disappointment of the aliens, who obviously hoped for a little more from Dingle. Two (Episode 66)
Elizabeth Montgomery and Charles Bronson are the last humans alive in a world devastated by a nuclear war. Problem is, they just happen to be enemies. Will they put aside their differences and restart the human race, or just shoot each other and be done with it? A Passage for Trumpet (Episode 32)
Jack Klugman, a talented but failed alcoholic jazz trumpeter is depressed by his lot in life and decides to end his misery. However, when he tries to kill himself, he is given a chance to discover that life isn’t always about the bad things he experiences. The Four of Us are Dying (Episode 13)
Conman Arch Hammer (a very cool name for a bad guy) has the unique ability to change his face into anyone he pleases. Clearly, being a lowlife crim, he isn't going to use this ability for anything other than his own personal gain, but only as long as he picks the right people to mimic. As is fairly typical with many of the disc in this series, this has two strong episodes which prop up the slightly weaker ones. Many people would fondly recall Burgess Meredith in the well known Mr Dingle the Strong. Coupled with Jack Klugman putting in a great performance in the effective A Passage for Trumpet (and one similar to his other TZ roles), this dvd gets the thumbs up from me.

A good consistent transfer in both audio and video across all four episodes. Blacks are solid, whites fairly crisp and detail levels quite good. Each episode on this dvd has been shot on film and asides from some usual film artefacts, the picture is typically good, with perhaps a minor lapse in A Passage for Trumpet which looks a tad softer than the others. The mono audio gives us clear dialogue throughout, combined with the clarity of the score and minor effects and this is in line with what we’ve come to expect from some of the better quality discs in this series. The extra features on the dvd consist of a selection of text based screens for your reading pleasure. They contain a Rod Serling Biography, Season By Season Commentary, History Of The Twilight Zone and Reviews of the individual episodes on the disc. It’s not a particularly extensive package, but there’s some good (but brief) info, with the reviews being quite interesting and a must read from disc to disc for background info on each episode.
