Chris Rock - Never Scared

Chris Rock’s humour is definitely an acquired taste. Getting his break on Saturday Night Live in the US and then making the crossover to feature films, Rock is like Eddie Murphy only a 100 times more aggressive and intense with his delivery. Filmed in 2004 in Washington DC, this is Rock’s fourth TV special for HBO and it's open season as anything goes here. Chris lays into all things topical from Politics, Rap, Racism, America’s involvement in Iraq, Relationships, and yup. You guessed it…Michael Jackson!

This is definitely a disk for a beer night that will go down a treat with the boys, and possibly some broad minded ladies out there. The beauty of Rock’s comedy is that isn’t very physical, you could leave this playing in the background, without having to watch it.

Shot for Cable TV the video quality is perfectly acceptable, presented in Fullscreen 1.33:1. After all it’s not really that much of a stretch to capture a man walking around a stage with microphone, on tape!

Likewise the audio which is presented in Dolby Digital 5.0 captures all of Chris Rock’s obscenities as clear as a bell. Fear not about the absence of the .1 LFE channel, no explosions here except for the F-Bomb that is frequently dropped! The surrounds are used to fill the soundstage with the noise of the audience effectively placing you in the middle of the auditorium.

As for extras, Big Ass Jokes (27:00) is Chris Rock’s first HBO special recorded way back in 1993, a nice inclusion to see Chris when he was starting out.

Overall this is an absolute corker stand-up DVD of Chris Rock at the top of his game. Granted Rock’s humour isn’t for everyone but if you’re a fan run, don’t walk, and grab this disk. It’s that good!

Armour Of God - Special Collector's Edition
"Armour of God is definitely not one of Chan’s better films. While the action is good, the weak plot and hammy acting make this a hard task to sit through. "

Norah Jones And The Handsome Band - Live 2004
"Ms Jones may not be everyone's cup of tea, but fans of her work will have little hesitation in adding this disc to their collection."

    After The Sunset
"If this is an indication of what Perce Brosnan is going to do with his career post-James Bond, I’d be calling MGM and begging for my old job back!"

Police Story - Special Collector's Edition
"Police Story is a decent action flick that features incredible martial arts action as well as Chan's signature death defying stunts."

    Taken
"Taken is an enjoyable series, with the DVD medium being the best way to enjoy it. "
