I've always been a closet fan of Joe Cocker and when the opportunity to review this disc arose I jumped at the chance to hear this great husky voice belt out a few of my favorite tunes.
Little did I realise just how many tunes of his I actually liked and performed live they were great. He's not a showman, straight up. He stands behind the microphone and just sings with all of his heart and soul and you know that he is when he is sweating constantly. Then again, it could have been the lights on the stage.

Once again, video quality of these live performances from Warner Vision is Excellent. It is very dark footage but not the dark you normally associate with poorly lit events. Here you will see Joe's face on the screen and the entire background is pitch black, yet still beautifully clear.
There are some nice colors on this disc. I don't know if its the live footage as compared to something filmed and edited but the colors look very rich for a video input signal and I quite like it.
The main stage is a sort of dome semi-circle type setup and the innards of it are a screen that changes colors from subdued red, to cool blue to brilliant purple and they come up great on dvd. If you've enjoyed the concert on VHS before you'll fall in love with the dvd quality.

This is great music and you can hear all the instruments and backup vocals as you should. The front speaker stage is the main focus for this dvd and the surrounds are used once again for ambient music and crowd participation.
Sometimes I wish that these concerts would just place a microphone in the crowd and let it record everything, from people telling their friends "I'm getting a hot dog, you want anything" or when some fancy lighting occurs you here the crowd in unison hummm "Ooooooh". Just subtle things like that to make it more entertaining. Oh well, its probably just me.
Anyway, as I stated, this is a good soundtrack but not as fuller as the others I've seen. Granted its a much smaller concert than the Tina Turner one and it is not indoors to get any sort of reverb effect in the rears but its still good Cocker music.

If you like Joe Cocker you'll enjoy this disc. it's got most of his great hits on it - listed on the back - and they are all performed flawlessy. There's even a tribute to the late Diana with the song "You are so beautiful". A must for fans.
