Rod Stewart - The Storyteller 1984-1991

Warner Vision/Warner Vision . R4 . COLOR . 60 mins . G . PAL

  Feature
Contract

Spanning a decade of top 10 hits, sporting an echidna on his head and once married to Rachel Hunter, Rod Stewart once had it all. He's still got the hair to this day though which I suppose is a plus.

This disc features some of his greatest video clips (12 in total).

  Video
Contract

Varying degrees of quality with the varying degrees of recorded material. We've got 1.85 aspect ratios, black and white material, sepia toning, high contrast imaging, cartoons and more.

Granted, the later clips are of a much better quality to the earlier ones. Black levels are good throughout and get better toward the end with color rendition and saturation improving alond the way aswell. Sharpness and detail aren't as good as they could be but in some animated sections in "The Mowtownn Song" are very sharp so it comes down to a source issue.

There is some noise apparent in earlier clips but can't be attributed to the dvd as the bit-rate is constantly high in the 9-10 range.

  Audio
Contract

Audio quality is retained throughout the entire disc. The Linear PCM soundtrack is basically the same that you'd get off your CD. There's nothing more to say here other than all songs a rendered as good as you would expect and Rod's husky voice is ever so clear. :)

  Extras
Contract

If you consider the disc a bunch of music videos then I guess you've got a few extras included. On the flip side that means no movie or rockumentary was included. :)

  Overall
Contract

I'm not a fan of the man but I can see why people would be as his tunes are pretty catchy. A must for all fans, a miss for everyone else.
