I tried to keep an open mind when I sat down to watch this film, as I'd had some conflicting reports about it from friends - some liked it, others thought it to be a waste of time. Briefly, the film follows Hatch Harrison (Jeff Goldblum) who is resuscitated after dying in a car accident. However, when he returns from his stint on the other side, Hatch brings with him a psychic link to a killer, and now each can see through the eyes of the other. What follows is a reasonable thriller where Hatch attempts to track down the murderer before his family is killed, while those around him think he is mad. Being a thriller, I can't really say much more without spoiling the film too much.

Storyline aside, this film looked great. No noticeable artifacts, and everything looking crisp and clear. The movie alternates a bit between dark and well lit scenes, and the picture quality doesn't suffer at all - you see everything you are meant to see in perfect detail. This may not be a particularly special disc, but the video transfer is superb.

Audio on the whole, was quite good, making use of all channels where appropriate to the film with good spatial separation. The only thing I may have done differently was pan the sound from the TV towards the rear when the cameras focus swings around to Hatch. Dialogue was clear throughout the film, with a minor exception at the beginning where it sounded a little muffled and hard to make out, though this may have been intentional because of the music playing in the scene.

I like a good thriller, as much or more so than the next person, so I'm glad I put aside the bad things I'd heard about this film and watched it anyway. The ending may not be to everyone's liking (myself, I thought it a little unbelievable) but the journey itself is well worth it, with strong performances by both Jeff Goldblum and Christine Lahti.
