Wet,Wet, Wet - Live at Celtic Park

    Warner Vision/Warner Vision . R4 . COLOR . 90 mins . G . PAL

      Feature
    Contract

7th September 1997, Celtic Park, Glasgow. A jam packed house of people and i mean JAMMED. Even just looking at the cover of this disc, this is a huge crowd. I guess they love these blokes in Scotland.

From my perspective, Wet Wet Wet shot to fame with their "Love is All Around" track that appeared on the soundtrack to the highly successfull Four Weddings and a Funeral. Their previous hit was "Sweet Surrender" but other than that, I haven't heard much of WWW.

I must admit though, I enjoy their music more after watching this disc.

      Video

A very good transfer only marred by some slight mpeg artifacting and a slight lack of black level depth. Other than that we have a vibrant transfer with colorful hues across the entire length of the disc.

It's nice to see guys who are not afraid to wear colorful silk shirts *laughs* which seem to come up very well on dvd. Ignoring the slight aliasing that appears when we have a close-up of the giant screens, this disc is pretty much a great looker.

      Audio
    Contract

Out of the last 3 Warner Vision disc I reviewed, this is the pick of the bunch for audio. A decent soundtrack with a strong front stage and, at-times, spine chilling crowd surrounds. I may have gotten over the top in this assessment but a big crowd always does that to me.

Dialogue is always clear throught the disc as well as backup vocals. Distinctions between musical instruments are easily achieved and there is enough low frequency use to satisfy all of us.

      Extras
    Contract

None whatsoever other than your song selection menus and a picture disc.

      Overall

A good disc for fans of Wet Wet Wet. I doubt there is many of us around but this disc should defintely satisfy.
