Ok, so I have 2 sections I'd like to get through
today before the week is out, something to keep
your interest piqued.
Paramount :
This just in, although it may have been mentioned
before but Paramounts titles for June and July
are as follows:
June 8, 2001
- Breakfast at Tiffany's
- Days of Thunder
- Clear & Present Danger
- Patriot Games
- An Office and a Gentleman
- The Naked Gun
- A Civil Action
- The Out of Towners
- The Ghost and the Darkness
- Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country
July 6, 2001
- Mission: Impossible 2
- The Presidio
- The Hunt for Red October
- Black Rain
- Barbarella
- Naked Gun 2 1/2
- Witness
- Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier
Looks like there is a Trek trend happening here
so we may be able to assume movies 4, 3, 2 and 1
will appear in each subsequent month, enough for
the entire collection to be available by
Christmas. The 3rd installment of the Naked Gun
may appear aswell. Tom Cruise fans will have
their allocated dosage fulfilled with Harrison
Ford and Sean Connery making a splash, which begs
the question, Where is the Indiana Jones Trilogy
Paramount?
True Lies?
One of my favorite movies cut? Well, reports from
many region 2 UK DVD sites are stating that they
will be receiving a 'cut' version of this Arnold
classic which is infuriating to say the least,
particularly after the recent Fox/MGM titles to
suffer the same fate.
I took it upon myself to quiz Columbia Tristar,
the local distributors of the DVD here in region
4, and they assured me that our release will be
UNCUT. I have faith in them but the evidence will
be confirmed once the reviews are up and this
reviewer knows the movie back-to-front if my
laserdisc is anything to go by. Our release is
also delayed from the last word so I'm going out
on a limb here and assuming this is because they
are sourcing an alternate cut. Kudos to Columbia
on that one.
Cheers,

Other recent news: DVDnet closes its doors.
After many years and tireless work from all involved, the era comes to an end, slowly...
REVIEW: For a Few Dollars More (Sony)
There's Gold in them thar hills, as Sergio Leone commits to celluloid the second in his great Clint Eastwood Western trilogy.
REVIEW: A Fistful of Dollars (Sony)
An essential Spaghetti-Western, given deluxe treatment by MGM.
REVIEW: Stripes
Falls short of being a classic, but it gives us Bill Murray, so it just has to be seen.
REVIEW: Pulp Fiction - 10th Anniversary Special Edition
This is a film that simply oozes perfection.
REVIEW: The Cat Returns
While slightly derivative and lacking, The Cat Returns is a charming film from the world’s greatest animation studio.
REVIEW: Armour Of God - Special Collector's Edition
Armour of God is definitely not one of Chan’s better films. While the action is good, the weak plot and hammy acting make this a hard task to sit through.
REVIEW: Law & Order - Season 2
Quality television. Quality DVD.
REVIEW: Law & Order - Criminal Intent - Season 1
Intellect defies evil in a great release of the third show in the Law & Order franchise.
REVIEW: Law & Order - SVU - Season 1
A fine release of a solid spin-off series.
